MONCTON, November 21, 2016—The big week is finally here; the Tree of Hope Radiothon is this Friday, November 25. The Tree of Hope Campaign raises money to fund cancer research, to improve cancer treatments, and to increase patient comfort. The annual Radiothon is the Campaign’s biggest event, and this year’s goal is set at $1.5 million.

Proceeds of the event will benefit the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre, regional satellite units in northern New Brunswick, as well as the Mgr. Henri-Cormier Lodge. Some of the money raised will also fund cancer research. Thanks to the support of donors, partners, and sponsors over the years, the Tree of Hope Campaign has completed significant infrastructure projects and purchased cutting-edge equipment.

“I have had such an amazing experience during the 2016 Tree of Hope Campaign,” says Denis Richard, Co-chair of this year’s Campaign. “I am currently fighting cancer myself, and am receiving chemo treatments, but I have met so many inspiring people and have heard messages of hope and determination. My experience with the campaign has helped me immensely in my own battle. I have witnessed firsthand everything the Tree of Hope Campaign has accomplished, and I hope people will give generously again this year,” says Denis Richard.

Robert Maillet, who is Co-chair of the Campaign for a second year, is touched by his experience again this year.

“It really is a life-changing experience, and I am realizing more and more how important this campaign is and the effect it has on New Brunswickers. I have met people from all over the province who have told me their stories and explained how this campaign has made a difference to them. The Tree of Hope Campaign has achieved great things over the years, and I am honoured to be a part of it. I humbly ask people to donate to the campaign again this year.”

The public is invited to attend the Tree of Hope Radiothon at the Dieppe NBCC on Friday, November 25. The event will be broadcast live from 9 a.m.to 7 p.m. on ICI Radio-Canada Première. Hosts Samuel Chiasson and Amélie Gosselin will be joined by several guests and, of course, Co-chairs Denis Richard and Robert Maillet. CBC Radio One will also be a part of the event, with the CBC Tree of Hope Radiothon, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., hosted by Jonna Brewer and Vanessa Blanch.

This year’s musical lineup includes performances from Amélie Gallant, Amélie Hall, Christian Kit Goguen, Danny Boudreau, Denis Richard, George Belliveau, Ginette Landry, Ginette Marie, Isabelle Pelletier, Joannie Benoit, Joey Robin Haché, Kevin McIntyre, Les Méchants Maquereaux, Mario LeBreton, Simon Daniel and Troiselle
